Job Description:

Job Purpose:

Sandoz is seeking to hire an experienced Head of Strategic Planning, Business Intelligence and Commercial Excellence for the Region CEEMEA, a key region for the company.

The future incumbent shall play a key leadership role in strategic planning and commercial excellence for the region.


Key Responsibilities 

 Strategy development and implementation

 Strategic and operational planning, business intelligence, market research and forecasting

  Sales force effectiveness, CRM

 Commercial Excellence capability building

 Lead the functional team: Best Practice sharing and execution


Strategic Planning 

 Provide ongoing strategic insight and key recommendations, to the Head of the region and regional team, taking into account and combining various elements (eg: competitor gap analysis, market predictions, financial plans, pipeline information, current products lifecycle positions, etc)

 Organize and lead growth initiatives

 Put together the 5-year Strategic Plan and the Target Plan of the region (on a yearly basis) in cooperation with the HQ team and key countries

 Maintain strong collaboration with the Global Strategic Planning department


Business Intelligence

  Provide ongoing regional market analysis to the HQ team

 Provide ongoing competitor analysis and benchmarking to the HQ team

 Report regional market performance dashboard and post-launch performance tracking on a monthly basis

 Respond to key ad-hoc research requests by bringing the best internal and external knowledge

 Take leadership of in-depth research projects on demand and pro-actively

 Maintain innovative ways to identify, collect, and manage knowledge sources and tools in the HQ and CEE countries

 Maintain superior understanding of the regulatory landscape and healthcare legislation


Job Requirements:

The Head of Strategic Planning, Business Intelligence and Commercial Excellence is an exceptional leader with seniority and experience, who brings on board a solid track record of managing and delivering international strategic initiatives. The incumbent is a change agent with an outstanding ability to think strategically and implement changes positively.


 Several years of experience in leadership positions within markets with developed OTC and Rx businesses

 Solid experience in strategic planning or strategy consulting with major consulting firm

 Excellent commercial acumen, experience in strategic planning and commercial excellence 

 Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and health systems in the CEEMEA region

 Understanding of cultural, historical, and socio-economic landscape in CEEMEA countries

 Profound skills in market and competitor analysis 

 Strong analytical skills, numerical agility

 Effective team member, experienced in sharing knowledge and ideas 

 Superior ability to communicate and collaborate effectively across a global, matrixed company

 Strong interpersonal leadership, communication and collaboration skills

 Strong planning skills and the ability to see “the big picture”

 Excellent problem-solving skills for developing creative solutions and for maintaining target timelines

 Ability to identify areas that need attention and to create resolution plans/action

 Competence to deal with complexity and high level of ambiguity in a variety of diverse markets

 High level of ambition and enthusiasm



  University degree or equivalent in education and experience is required

 Advanced degree such as MBA or PhD is of benefit
